Half Sleeve for Curtis
This piece was especially fun to do for my homie Curtis. He gave me the ingredients of what he wanted the design made from and I custom composed this one for him. I like to think of myself as an interpreter of ideas. A lot of people have nothing more than a verbal description to give me as a starting point. Sometimes they might have a basic sketch if I'm lucky. The challenge of creating someone's vision is quite fun to me. Sometimes I get it right on the first shot and sometimes it takes a few redesigns to get it right.
Curtis' piece incorporated a pair of hands that intrigued me. They were extremely rough, weather worn and textured from years of what I can only imagine was hard labor. I was glad that Curtis was open to incorporating them into his design. I could have found some nice looking, very smooth hands to put in but they wouldn't have been no where near as interesting as the ones I chose.
