We Bought A Bus!!

This year started with quite a bang!  My wife and I sold our house in January. We intended to rent a location and do some traveling. Like I said, that was our intent!  When the universe has other plans for you, it becomes quite obvious very quickly! Long story short, we ended up moving three times in three months.  Plans were made and plans fell through.  Every time we decided on a path to take, something happened that didn't allow us to travel down it. Pretty crazy experience!

We started looking into campers that we could purchase and turn into a home.  Found some pretty awesome ones that had some slide outs.  They were quite spacious and we were really interested in buying one until we learned about what else comes with pull campers. The main concerns were the weight of the camper and the type of truck that will be hauling it around. It's not a matter of having a truck that can pull it, it's a matter of stopping all that weight!  A sales person at a camper dealership explained that you need a really strong truck with excellent brakes in order to safely transport the camper around.  He explained that it takes a significant toll on the brakes every time you take it on the road.  Good to know!  Had to change that plan!

My wife, Ebony, a super great researcher/awesome person(who is full of light, magic and feminine energy!), got on the trail of "Skoolies".  A great name for a school bus that is turned into a home.  The idea of owning our own custom home and still being able to travel started to seem like the most amazing idea.   Ebony found a bus for sale on Craigslist and we jumped right on it.  We went to test drive and inspect the bus. It's a 54 passenger, 1997 Thomas Built Bus.  The guys who were selling it to us were super cool and very transparent about everything that was going on with the bus.  We committed to buying and they did some final repairs before we took possession. This path was the only one the actually opened up for us!

We picked up the bus and drove it up to my cousin David's house. He's gonna be helping us convert it into a home.  David is something like a magician with metal, welding, woodworking and building stuff! Very, very fortunate to have him helping us out!

I'll be posting progress shots and updates as we go.  There is a Instagram account that Ebony created for the bus we call Love!  Please give it a follow to keep up with all the fun we're having creating new paths through life. Here is the link below:

Do you have any dreams or goals you're working towards?

PS.  As of right now, the gentlemen who sold us our skhoolie have one last bus for sale.  They are great people to buy a bus from because they run their own semi company. Very knowledgable and professional!  Give me a shout if you're on the hunt for a school bus and I will check with them about availability.
